CCYM STAFF

Andy Waters
Unit Commander

Mr. Waters spent a brief amount of time with the U.S. Army before being medically discharged. His goal is to see that the program is fully ran by the Young Marines with adult volunteers assisting them as much as possible. Mr. Waters has two kids in the program who are YM/NCOs.

Lana Swanson
Executive Officer

Sgt Swanson is a Marine Corps veteran who served from 2005-2013 as a Motor Transport Mechanic and Marine Security Guard. She has two combat tours to Iraq and Afghanistan and served at U.S. embassies in Nigeria, Belgium, and El Salvador. Sgt Swanson currently serves as the unit XO and the Senior Recruit Instructor and joined CCYM in 2016.

Diana Rodriguez
Unit Adjutant

Mrs. Rodriguez serves as our Adjutant and makes sure each Young Marine's records are up-to-date and handles all of the unit's administrative needs. She currently has a daughter in the program and her son has since graduated from the program with intents to serve in the U.S. military.

Nathan Cobb
Training Officer

Mr. Cobb serves as the Training Officer for the unit. His job is to assist the Young Marines in creating a purposeful training schedule for the year and ensures the unit's trips are properly planned out. He joined our staff in 2009 and had one son graduate from the program who had been selected as Division 3 Young Marine of the Year. Mr Cobb comments that although he enjoys sharing his experience and values with the Young Marines, "What really happens is that they share their world and experiences with me and I learn from them."

Bev Hill
Unit Financial Manager

Mrs. Hill joined CCYM staff in 2010.  She had one son graduate from the program, who went on to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. Ms. Hill graduated from UNC-G with a BS in Recreation Administration, and has served with several church / youth organizations.

Cesar Serrano
Parent Liason Support Officer

Mr. Serrano joined CCYM staff in 2017 and is a member of the Tar Heel Detachment #733 of the Marine Corps League. He has a son in the program.
