Our recruit training runs 13 weeks long, plus one additional "Forming Week" for a total of 14 weeks. During this training, recruits will receive instruction in physical training, close order drill, uniforms, field skills, drug resistance training, leadership, citizenship, and more. After recruit training, newly minted Young Marines will participate in a graduation ceremony welcoming them into the unit.
FORMING WEEK
This pre-week recruits are introduced to the program’s expectations and culture through some controlled chaos. Some administrative issues will be taken care of this week, to include getting recruits sized for uniforms and receiving unit issued gear.
PHASE 1 - DISCIPLINE
Weeks 1-4, recruits are introduced to a life of structure, indoctrinated in Young Marine culture, and break down the concept of “ME” so they can begin building the TEAM. This is done through physical training (PT), close order drill (COD), and classroom instruction that will continue throughout the entire experience.

PHASE 2 - TEAMWORK
During weeks 4-8, we build on the information learned in the prior weeks. More is expected and each recruit is starting to understand that to succeed they have to start putting the team before themselves. You’ll start to see the TEAM concept emphasized more than ever and their confidence in themselves is starting to really show.

PHASE 3 - LEADERSHIP
In the final phase of weeks 9-13, recruits are honing in on their skills, confidence is skyrocketing, and the leader inside is starting to emerge. The team is getting strong and they are relying on each other. This is where each recruit's strengths will shine, weaknesses are faced with courage, and parents see the difference between what once was and what now is. During the last week of training recruits will participate in a final field training exercise called the Crucible before graduation.
THE CRUCIBLE This is an overnight trip where recruits will face physical and mental challenges both as individuals and as a team. Those who complete this final challenge are awarded their Young Marine patch, symbolizing their transformation from recruit to Young Marine. |
