Subj: YOUNG MARINE REQUIRED UNIFORMS AND GEAR

1. Capital City Young Marines has produced a list of required gear items that all Young Marines (YM) and Young Marine Recruits (YMR) will need throughout their YM career. This list will inform you what is needed and where it can be purchased from. It may be updated as needed.

2. Specific mandatory items are marked by a bold double asterisk (**) which indicates that exact brand/model/style must be purchased. Some items are only available on the provided website link.

3. Other items not in bold or marked by a double asterisk are required but may be purchased from other sources and vary on brand and model.

4. Each item has a hyperlink associated with the name and minimum quantity listed in (parenthesis). Click on the link to take you to a website with a picture of the item and/or to purchase it. Parents are encouraged to buy products from sources that are listed as cheaper than the below website or are in convenient locations to them.

    a.  For example, if the Moon Beam sold at Walmart, is L shaped, OD green, black or tan, AND has the required red lenses, then we recommend you purchase there if it is cheaper than online sources. If the khaki web belt is sold at the local surplus store with the anodized brass (aka gold) buckle, then buy it from the surplus store if it is more convenient.

    b.  Website links have been provided for additional sources for gear.

9. Remember, whatever you buy for your Young Marine Recruit is what they will be expected to carry during future trips. All asterisk listed items were chosen based on experience, quality, and/or YM National requirements.  Make sure you buy winter clothing or gear that will keep your child warm! We still perform parades and go on trips in cold weather!

10. Lastly, if your recruit FAILS to complete recruit training, all ISSUED gear WILL have to be returned to the unit. We have a “cammie buy back” program where the unit will “buy back” your child’s cammies if they are still serviceable and approved by the unit Quartermaster.

CAPITAL CITY YOUNG MARINES IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING YOUR CHILD WITH CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT THAT YOU OR THEY FAIL TO BRING TO REQUIRED EVENTS!
