Unit Level Leaders in charge of a Platoon
Young Marine Unit-level Leader

As a unit level leader, Young Marines can either be in charge of a squad, platoon, company, or larger.
  • Squads are small groups of 3-4 Young Marines,
  • Platoons are 3-4 squads of Young Marines
  • Companies are one or more platoons of Young Marines
  • Battalions are one or more companies of Young Marines

Young Marine Special Billets
  • Recruit Instructors train the brand new Young Marine Recruits in Young Marine knowledge, close order drill, physical training, field skills, and drug awareness
  • Recruiters talk to kids who are interested in becoming a Young Marine and talk to them about the program and its benefits to being a Young Marine
  • Birthday Ball NCO is a Young Marine or group of Young Marines who are in charge of planning and conducting the biggest birthday party 
  • Training NCO is a Young Marine who is in charge of scheduling and coordinating the year's training events for the whole unit.
  • Color Guard is a group of Young Marines who present the US flag and Young Marine flag with a rifle team during the playing of the National Anthem

These are just some of the jobs that any Young Marine can hold in the unit. The opportunities for leadership are endless!
