COMMUNITY SERVICE

Picture
Every Young Marine is encouraged to accumulate 50 hours of community service per year. A Community Service ribbon is awarded when a YM earns his/her first 50 hours in calendar year.  Stars are added to the ribbon for each successive 50 hours earned.  Youth are encouraged to find ways in their own communities to serve, but we often organize opportunities where we serve as a unit.

Each Young Marine (and adult) is encouraged to review the following:
> CCYM 'Community Service Guidelines' document (CCYMFORM10)
> Page 56 of the Awards Manual, to fully understand the Community Service ribbon
Both can be found on the Forms & Reference website, in the 'Young Marine Forms' and 'Young Marines Manuals'  sections, respectively.

Below are a list of upcoming Unit opps and Individual opps.  Unit opps are arranged by CCYM and done collectively as a unit.  Participation highly encouraged, and in some cases mandatory "All Hands".  Individual opps are organizations for a YM to consider, when arranging community service on his/her own.

Remember that if you perform community service on your own time, you must fill out and submit the Community Service Form to the Unit Adjutant or to the Community Service Coordinator to receive credit for your time.

Below is a link to the Wake County Educational Absence form if you ever need to get approval to attend a CCYM event during school hours.

Golden Corral MCL Fundraiser
Rescheduled by the MCL
to JANUARY 2019

We will be lending support to our Marine Corp League, since they lend our unit support in so many ways year-round.

This will likely be "All Hands" and on a Monday evening, and will take the place of a regular drill.  We will meet at Golden Corral instead of the church.

In the past, YM's have assisted with table setup, seating, refilling drinks, table clean up.
Usually YMs are invited to dine afterwards.
